About The Position

The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR) is a behavioral treatment center recognized for its excellence by securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders. Through timely, consistent, and fair and equitable program application, VCBR promotes self-recovery and self-determination of committed population. All contact between staff and residents is deemed therapeutic. The purpose of this position is to supervise, and monitor employees providing direct care to residents and to supervise various programs within the living units.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the general public both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use good judgment
  • Ability to conduct investigations when necessary
  • Ability to train and supervise staff
  • Ability to administer CPR
  • Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of policies and procedures in the area of personnel management and monitoring of service delivery
  • Basic experience in Microsoft Office applications
  • Available to work alternate work schedules (evenings, weekends, and holidays)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in management and supervisory techniques and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with residents, clinical, professional, and administrative level staff
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a professional and therapeutic manner with families or community agencies
  • Monitor, control and minimize use of overtime through roster management

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a supervisor is preferred
  • Supervisory experience working in an institutional, detention or maximum security environment is preferred
