About The Position

Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) is seeking a full-time Residential Specialist II for their program in the Torrington area, serving four women with a history of trauma and multiple long-term psychiatric hospitalizations. This role utilizes the Sanctuary Model and is responsible for documenting and delivering services to individuals in recovery, as outlined in their Individual Recovery Plans. The position works a second shift, Sunday through Thursday, from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am, with a pay rate of $21.50 per hour plus a $0.50 per hour shift differential for hours worked during the specified shift.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma required.
  • 2 years of related experience and/or degree in related field, license, certification i.e. Recovery Assistant certificate
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Individuals who have trauma and long-term psychiatric hospitalization histories preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Document all activities, communications, and encounters with individuals in recovery according to service contract and MHC requirements.
  • Ensure the safety of individuals in their residence through proper supervision of assigned program site including being aware of necessary treatment issues.
  • Teach and assist Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Act as a liaison with the individuals' therapists, referral sources, and community agencies.
  • Develop and design content and objectives for educational and wellness-related group discussions and activities. Encourage participation, coordinate schedule, and gather the materials needed for the discussion or activity. Implement and facilitate ongoing group activities and discussions with program participants.
  • Provide community based or program site coverage when necessary. May be mandated to remain on site or to report beyond scheduled hours to provide essential coverage.
