About The Position
UCP Long Island is seeking a Residential Shift Supervisor to lead Direct Care Staff at its 31-bed Intermediate Care Facility in Commack. The position supports individuals with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities by coordinating daily activities, maintaining care and quality standards, and fostering a positive, team-oriented environment. It is described as an entry-level management opportunity for someone with direct care experience who is ready to grow into a leadership role. The role is full-time, Tuesday through Saturday, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The stated pay range is $23.15–$24.54 per hour, including shift differentials. UCP Long Island is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help people with disabilities live more independent, fulfilling lives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience supporting children or adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
- Valid New York State driver's license and one year of licensed driving experience.

- Management experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide Direct Care Staff during assigned shifts.
- Assign staff responsibilities and daily activities based on individual needs and program requirements.
- Adjust schedules and assignments to ensure appropriate coverage and quality care.
- Mentor staff and promote a positive, professional work environment.
- Maintain attendance, performance, training, and personnel records.
- Help ensure high-quality care and therapeutic interactions for individuals served.
- Encourage independence in daily living activities, recreation, and community involvement.
- Promote dignity, respect, and person-centered supports.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the residence.
- Conduct and document fire drills and evacuation procedures.
- Assist with implementing agency policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.
