About The Position

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Residential Services Supervisor for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois. This role involves supervising, coordinating, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing the work of direct care personnel in providing non-professional services, programs, and activities for individuals with developmental disabilities in a 24-hour operated facility. The supervisor will oversee an assigned shift and an assigned home, and provide supervisory coverage to other units in the absence of their supervisor. This position also assists the Unit Director and professional staff in planning and implementing habilitation programs and serves as a member of an Interdisciplinary Team, contributing to the formulation and implementation of the Assessment/Habilitation Planning/Program and Service Implementation Process. The supervisor coordinates and integrates shift routines and programs with those occurring on other shifts.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree, with coursework in the health and human services fields.
  • Requires two (2) years of direct care experience in a mental health/rehabilitation residential care setting OR two (2) years of resident care supervisory experience in a mental health/rehabilitation residential care setting.
  • Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of professional experience supervising staff.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience assessing operational needs and delegating staff appropriately for a public or private organization.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience working with individuals with physical disabilities and addressing the behaviors and problems.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience performing quality assurance activities.
  • Two (2) years of experience in guidance and training of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts rounds on an assigned shift and on an assigned home in a 24-hour operated facility.
  • Serves as a working supervisor.
  • Serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Provides instruction, training, and guidance to subordinate staff to verify proper program implementation and maintenance of daily activity/Active Treatment Schedules.
  • Monitors designated living areas to verify equipment is in good repair/working order, areas are clean and free of hazardous conditions, and painting/repair work has been completed.
  • Completes and/or reviews forms, logs, and reports including injury reports, restraint forms, rights restriction forms, and supply requisitions.
  • Provides supervisory coverage to other units in the absence of their supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
