About The Position

The Residential Services Director provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for all residential programming at Teton Youth and Family Services, including Red Top Residential Treatment Center and the Van Vleck Group Home. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, structured, and developmentally appropriate living environments for youth while maintaining high standards of care, staff performance, and program quality. The Residential Services Director provides leadership and supervision to youth care staff, including House Managers. This role fosters a strong residential culture rooted in accountability, relationship-based care, trauma-informed practices, and positive youth development. As the operational leader of TYFS residential programs, the Director ensures staff are supported, trained, and equipped to meet the daily needs of youth while maintaining consistency, safety, and quality across all residential settings. This is not a clinical position. The Director leads by example, develops future leaders, and continuously evaluates residential operations to strengthen outcomes for both youth and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential care or youth programming, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Deep understanding of trauma-informed practices, adolescent development, and positive behavioral support.
  • Experience with staff supervision, program development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to model and reinforce therapeutic approaches in a structured, residential setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in both short-term crisis care and long-term residential treatment settings.
  • Background in direct care, therapeutic mentoring, or experiential education.
  • Familiarity with state licensing and accreditation standards for residential programs.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for residential operations at both Van Vleck House and Red Top Meadows.
  • Ensure that daily routines, living environments, and interactions are aligned with treatment plans and trauma-informed care.
  • Work closely with the Clinical Director to integrate treatment plans and therapeutic goals into daily residential life.
  • Work closely with the Clinical Team to review and accept or deny referrals.
  • Partner with the Education Director to ensure educational needs and school responsibilities are reinforced and supported in the residential setting.
  • Collaborate with the Therapeutic Adventure Program Director to incorporate experiential learning and leadership development into daily routines.
  • Coordinate with administrative and support staff to ensure consistent communication, staffing, and operational alignment.
  • Supervise House Managers, and direct care staff across both programs.
  • In coordination with the Leadership Team, contribute to and deliver ongoing training in trauma-informed care, youth development, behavioral intervention, crisis management, and therapeutic engagement.
  • Support staff in managing challenging behaviors and fostering a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
  • Support House Managers in ongoing case management of clients and oversee submission of reports, plans and other information provided to stakeholders.
  • Continually assess and improve residential programming to ensure it meets the evolving needs of youth, aligns with organizational goals, and operates within state licensing requirements.
  • Implement systems for tracking progress in daily living skills, social development, and goal attainment.
  • Support the collection of data for reporting, quality assurance, and program evaluation.
  • Support staff in building daily routines with youth and in navigating day-to-day living at both residential facilities.
  • Engage with families and guardians to support reunification, skill-building, and preparation for transition out of care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case planning, case management, and youth progress reviews.
