About The Position

This role involves a combination of customer service, technical assistance, and administrative duties within a sales center environment. The technician will handle customer inquiries, process orders, assist with product modifications, and manage daily sales center operations. Key responsibilities include light clerical work, using hand tools for product modifications, operating a fork truck, and ensuring accurate order entry and customer communication. The position also requires assisting with inventory control and potentially delivery responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years Customer Service experience, door industry preferred.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent telephone, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and customers.
  • Working knowledge of PCs and related software, including MS Word, Excel, Access, Lotus Notes, etc.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Willingness to learn product and processes.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Answer/screen telephone calls and direct them to the appropriate person.
  • Resolve customer calls regarding orders, quotes, etc.
  • Use hand tools to assist or complete modifications to products (e.g., glazing, section width changes, insulating).
  • Operate a fork truck.
  • Respond to customer requests for information on order tracking, expediting, and product availability.
  • Perform order entry for sales invoicing and requests for products from supply plants.
  • Notify customers of potential backorders, credit issues, order availability, and other order-related information.
  • Act as a liaison between the sales center and plant departments, gathering and responding with necessary information.
  • Process all necessary paperwork for the daily operation of the sales center.
  • Perform delivery responsibilities as required, including being driver qualified (valid license).
  • Assist in unloading and loading vendor and customer vehicles.
  • Monitor the completion of daily customer LTL shipments, including UPS.
  • Assist the GM and AGM with inventory controls, including cycle counts, daily review of inventory levels, scrap processing, and loss prevention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
