About The Position

Mister Sparky Electric is seeking a Residential Service Electrician for its locally owned Barrington and Northbrook, Illinois location. The role performs residential and light commercial electrical repairs, maintenance, installations, and replacements while delivering professional customer service and quality workmanship. The electrician diagnoses problems, explains options, prepares accurate estimates, and completes work in compliance with applicable codes. The position involves evaluating homes and offices for electrical safety, installing and maintaining wiring, equipment, fixtures, and devices, and inspecting systems for hazards or defects. The electrician also plans wiring and fixture layouts, documents job and customer information with the office team, and maintains appropriate stock, tools, parts, and safety equipment in the company vehicle. Requirements

Minimum 3 years of residential electrical experience.
Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
Strong customer service and communication abilities.
Ability to troubleshoot and work independently.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

Perform residential and light commercial electrical repairs, installations, and upgrades.
Evaluate homes and offices for electrical safety and make safety recommendations to customers as needed.
Install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures, and devices.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components, identify root causes, and provide effective solutions.
Inspect electrical systems and components for hazards, defects, and needed repairs, ensuring work complies with NEC, state, and local codes.
Plan wiring and fixture layouts based on job specifications and local codes.
Build on-site customer estimates, including scope of work, materials, labor, and preliminary sketches, and present options clearly and honestly.
Work with the office team to ensure job and customer data are accurately recorded and passed along.
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.
Communicate professionally with customers and explain repair or replacement options.
Represent the Mister Sparky brand with professionalism and integrity.
Maintain appropriate stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
