Requirements
- At least 3 years of residential plumbing experience.
- Valid California driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, maintain, and repair pipes and plumbing fixtures.
- Affix clamps and screws, and braze, solder, or weld pipes and tubes as needed.
- Measure and modify pipes by cutting, threading, or bending them with specialized tools.
- Install or repair household appliances and fixtures such as dishwashers, water heaters, toilets, and sinks.
- Diagnose plumbing problems and resolve issues.
- Repair or replace damaged parts.
- Locate and repair water-line leaks and remove clogs.
- Train new apprentices in proper plumbing techniques and practices.
- Keep detailed notes and prepare work reports documenting projects.
- Test plumbing and installed fixtures to ensure they function properly.
- Educate clients about and install water-conserving fixtures and systems, such as reduced-flow faucets and low-flush toilets.
- Follow state laws and regulations and comply with local building codes.
