About The Position

Stewart Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Drains is seeking a performance-driven Plumbing Service Manager for their established department in the Greater Memphis area. This role is ideal for a leader who is tired of large corporate structures and wants to work with a close-knit leadership team. The company is looking for someone to build people, grow a team, and elevate an already established department. The focus is on developing talent, recruiting, creating accountability, and achieving goals through the team, rather than just supervising experienced plumbers. The manager will lead an established department with experienced technicians, proven systems, a large customer base, and significant growth potential. While technical plumbing knowledge is important, the ability to produce results through people is paramount.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people in a performance-driven residential service environment.
  • Experience leading and developing field-service employees.
  • Proven ability to improve individual and team performance.
  • Experience coaching against measurable KPIs.
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, and retaining field talent.
  • Confidence in having constructive accountability conversations.
  • Strong understanding of residential service operations.
  • Comfort with revenue, sales, productivity, and profitability goals.
  • Ability to translate performance data into actionable plans.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, energy, and ownership.
  • Sufficient technical credibility to lead experienced plumbing professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the overall health and performance of the plumbing service department, including revenue, profitability, and department KPIs.
  • Coaching and developing technicians.
  • Recruiting plumbers and apprentices.
  • Managing apprentice development and career progression.
  • Ensuring adequate staffing, retention, and minimizing turnover.
  • Maintaining customer experience and service quality.
  • Ensuring consistent execution of the service process.
  • Monitoring department performance throughout the month and implementing strategies to address performance gaps.
  • Using one-on-ones, ride-alongs, call reviews, meetings, training, and KPI scorecards for technician development.
  • Setting clear expectations, recognizing performance, and providing constructive coaching.
  • Continuously attracting talent by recruiting experienced plumbers and developing apprentices.
  • Creating an environment where great employees want to stay.
  • Building the team ahead of growth to support expansion.
