Residential Nurse (RN or LPN)
About The Position
Vera French Community Mental Health Center is looking for LPN's and/or RN's to join their team. This role involves working in a small, 15-bed setting, allowing for the development of meaningful, long-term relationships with individuals facing mental and medical challenges. The Residential Nurse provides direction in delivering nursing care through quality, accessible, and healthy living solutions. The Nurse also directs other staff members in implementing individual treatment plans and nursing practices. This position is ideal for someone who prioritizes people, provides good care, and enjoys their work.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Nursing required
- A valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa
- Ability to relate in a respectful, constructive manner with excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical with a drug and alcohol screen
- Passing the background check is a condition of employment. A negative background check can be grounds for dismissal, even if an offer has been made to me and I have been hired.

Responsibilities
- Routinely function in the charge nurse position and direct other personnel in the performance of their duties
- Within the limits of the Iowa Administrative Code, plan and direct other personnel in the implementation of independent and dependent nursing functions and interventions utilizing best nursing practices and individualized treatment plans as guidelines.
- Provide leadership in the delivery of general nursing duties
- Accurately transcribe physician orders, administer medications and prescribed treatments, observe and report resident responses, and complete documentation.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the resident Treatment Plan
- Provide teaching according to resident treatment plans.
- Provide appropriate interventions to teach clients skills involving activities of daily living, community integration, functional, social, advocacy, and skills to promote physical and emotional health.
- Help to maintain the safety of residents, staff, and visitors.
