About The Position

The position is responsible for assuming overall responsibility for the residential mortgage loan process from application to close, including underwriting evaluation, and collections. This role involves developing new and expanding referral sources, interviewing applicants, analyzing financial data, negotiating loan terms, advising customers, reviewing loan documents for risk, appraising accuracy, communicating underwriting decisions, managing closing documents, and assisting with collections for past due loans. The role also requires maintaining knowledge of Bank policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and banking regulatory laws.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent mandatory.
  • 3 or more years of residential mortgage lending experience.
  • NMLS license.
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan products, processing, underwriting, and closing guidelines.
  • Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to cross-sell financial products and services.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Proven computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new and expand both internal and external referral sources to grow mortgage business.
  • Interview mortgage loan applicants to collect and analyze financial data to determine the merits of the specific loan request.
  • Establish and negotiate loan terms including costs, repayment method and repayment schedule.
  • Advise customers concerning financial matters.
  • Review all documents to ensure risk exposure, Loan-to-Value, credit scores, Debt-to-Income ratios, ability to repay, etc.
  • Review appraisals for accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete and communicate underwriting decision and explain conditions, if any.
  • Request and review closing documents and conduct loan closings.
  • As necessary, assist with collection activities related to past due mortgage loans.
  • Maintain knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance of all state, federal laws and banking regulatory laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
