Residential Maintenance Technician(Scattered Site)
About The Position
We are hiring a Residential Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. We have been managing rental property in Chicagoland since 2003, handling over 1,500 units across more than 100 villages. This role offers steady work year-round with a full schedule every week. As a Maintenance Technician, you will complete 4-5 work orders per day, starting and ending your day from home. You will troubleshoot and repair multi-trade areas including plumbing, tile work, painting, electrical, carpentry, HVAC filters, and appliance issues across scattered-site residential properties.
Requirements
- 5+ years in residential maintenance, with formal training through an apprenticeship or vocational program
- Real working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, and general repair
- Familiarity with residential code
- Expert command of hand, power, and specialty tools, and you already own your own basic set
- Valid Illinois driver's license, clean driving record, your own insured working vehicle, and an active I PASS
- Comfort working off a smartphone and tablet
- The physical ability to lift 30+ pounds, climb stairs and ladders, work in crawl spaces, and stay on your feet all day in Chicago weather
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a pre employment background screening
Nice To Haves
- 8+ years in the trade
- Scattered site rental property repair experience
- EPA, OSHA 10 or 30, general contractor, or handyman license
- Experience taking point on a job and showing a newer tech how it gets done
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair multi-trade areas like plumbing, tile work, painting, electrical, carpentry, HVAC filters, appliance issues, and more across scattered‑site residential properties.
- Complete 4–5 work orders per day.
- Diagnose the actual cause and complete the repair correctly on the first visit.
- Communicate with dispatch when a job goes sideways.
- Work off a smartphone and tablet for digital work orders, photos, and time cards.
