About The Position

The Residential Lead Installer is responsible for replacement and repairs to mechanical and controls of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment sold or serviced by the company. This role requires maintaining the quality of work to acceptable company standards and representing the company to the customer in a professional manner that promotes good long-term relationships.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or Trade school or equivalent.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Previous experience troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and mechanical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of ductwork design and construction.
  • Experience in refrigeration pipe fitting and installation.
  • Good mechanical skills required.
  • Ability to perform job in a neat, professional manner.
  • Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with customers or good communication skills.
  • Must complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education annually.
  • Must have a minimum Type I and II C.F.C. certification.
  • Must be able to work with step ladders and extension ladders. Not afraid of heights.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds above your waist.
  • Must be registered with the State of Texas Licensing and Regulations.
  • Must have a valid driver license and pass insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Be courteous, neat, clean, and in uniform on the job.
  • Complete necessary equipment replacement, repairs, and maintenance in a professional and profitable manner.
  • Ask for help if a problem cannot be found within a reasonable length of time (usually 1 hour for Residential).
  • Adhere to proper procedures in the use of paperwork (time cards, work orders, return material tags, etc.) and electronic devices, inputting accurate information regarding Service Repair, Preventive Maintenance, and Equipment Replacement before leaving the job.
  • Collect C.O.D. payments from customers according to service department policy.
  • Keep the service coordinator informed at all times as to "where he is, where he has been," and "where he is going." Report to the Install manager/Supervisor upon completion of each job and at the beginning and end of each day, and notify the service/install manager, supervisor, or salesman of anything needed for job completion.
  • Maintain service truck inventory according to the standard service truck inventory list; shortages will be the responsibility of the install crew.
  • Maintain and protect company-assigned tools, reporting any deficiencies to the Manager.
  • Be responsible for vehicle organization and appearance, both inside and out on a weekly basis. Report any vehicle mechanical problems to the vehicle maintenance Coordinator.
  • Report to the service manager/dispatcher when not working, giving ample notice.
  • Coordinate with the Residential Service Manager in matters that are beyond his authority or ability to handle.
  • Be available for after-hours emergency service, according to the on-call schedule or as the Residential Service Manager deems necessary.
  • Commit to involving customers in company service agreement programs.
  • Input/edit all model, serial numbers, and filters for customer location.
  • Protect customer’s property and belongings to the best of your ability.
  • Follow EPA and company CFC policies.
  • Be responsible for the purchase, upkeep, and replacement of personal hand tools, meters, and other specialized tools required to perform job duties.
  • Follow all rules and guidelines listed in the employee handbook.
  • Perform any other duties Residential Service Manager or Service Dispatcher deems necessary.
  • Be available to work out of town if needed with ample notice, based on business needs, which may include overnight stays.
