About The Position

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential HVAC systems while delivering an exceptional customer experience. This role goes beyond technical execution—Technicians are expected to identify opportunities, educate customers, and contribute to revenue growth through service recommendations and lead generation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of residential HVAC service experience
  • EPA Certification and registered with TDLR required
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with common HVAC systems, controls, and components
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in simple, clear terms
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable with performance metrics and goals
  • Experience using ServiceTitan or similar field service platforms
  • Prior experience in commission-based or performance-driven environments
  • Sales or lead generation experience in a service-based industry

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential HVAC systems (heating, cooling, and ventilation)
  • Perform routine maintenance and system tune-ups
  • Install replacement parts and components as needed
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards, code requirements, and company quality expectations
  • Accurately document service calls, repairs, and recommendations in system tools (e.g., ServiceTitan)
  • Deliver a professional, courteous, and solutions-oriented experience on every call
  • Clearly explain system issues, repair options, and preventative maintenance recommendations
  • Build trust with customers through transparency and expertise
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment at the customer’s home
  • Identify system deficiencies and recommend appropriate repairs, upgrades, or replacements
  • Present options in a clear, customer-friendly manner (good/better/best approach)
  • Support company revenue goals through ethical and needs-based selling
  • Achieve individual performance targets related to average ticket, conversions, and service agreements
  • Promote and enroll customers in maintenance/service plans
  • Identify and generate leads for system replacements, IAQ products, and additional services
  • Educate customers on energy efficiency, system lifespan, and upgrade benefits
  • Capture and submit qualified leads for comfort advisors or sales teams
  • Look for cross-sell opportunities (e.g., plumbing, electrical, indoor air quality solutions)
  • Act as a brand ambassador to drive repeat business and referrals
  • Manage daily schedule and communicate effectively with dispatch
  • Maintain inventory, tools, and company vehicle
  • Follow company processes, compliance standards, and safety protocols
  • Participate in ongoing training and development (technical and sales)
