About The Position

Capital Heating, Cooling, Electric & Plumbing, Milwaukee's highest-rated residential HVAC company and a 3-time Milwaukee Top Workplace, is hiring an experienced HVAC Lead Installer / Lead HVAC Technician to run residential install crews. This role offers top-of-market pay, real benefits, and a professional operating environment. The total compensation potential, including base pay, weekly bonus, and sign-on bonus, ranges from $79,000 to $120,000+, with top Leads earning even more.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of residential HVAC installation experience, with proven ability to run a job independently
  • EPA 608 / EPA Universal Certification (required)
  • Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
  • NATE Installer Certification (or willing to earn it — we'll help)
  • Strong knowledge of refrigerant and refrigeration systems
  • Strong knowledge of gas furnaces and electric furnaces
  • Strong knowledge of heat pumps and ductless mini-split systems
  • Strong knowledge of central air conditioning systems
  • Strong knowledge of boiler systems and radiant heat
  • Strong knowledge of residential ductwork and sheet metal design and installation
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC low-voltage controls and wiring
  • Able to complete residential HVAC installations independently or lead a team through them
  • Able to train and supervise HVAC helpers and junior installers
  • Able to test, balance, and commission full HVAC systems
  • Able to diagnose and troubleshoot complex install issues
  • Able to understand and apply residential HVAC and mechanical codes

Responsibilities

  • Lead residential HVAC installation projects from start to finish across Milwaukee, Waukesha, and surrounding counties
  • Install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, boilers, and full ductwork systems
  • Read and interpret installation drawings, mechanical plans, and system layouts
  • Test, balance, commission, and troubleshoot residential HVAC systems
  • Train and supervise HVAC helpers and junior installers
  • Ensure every install meets local and state mechanical codes
