About The Position

The function of this position is to replace, modify, and/or install warm air furnaces, air conditioners, duct distribution systems, boilers, water heaters, and related piping and electrical to meet or exceed the manufacturer’s recommendations and local codes. The technician will be responsible for starting up installed equipment, adjusting it to manufacturer and job specifications, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during installation to ensure proper functioning. Additionally, the role involves communicating with consumers about equipment operation and maintenance, answering questions, performing required documentation with complete startup records, obtaining customer signatures, and collecting payments. The position requires a customer service attitude, good working knowledge of products and services, and the ability to learn about municipal plan and permit requirements. Effective communication with the Field Installation Supervisor, associates, superiors, vendors, and customers is essential, as is ensuring customer satisfaction through follow-up and obtaining referrals. The technician must be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, accurately list materials, work under time constraints and budgetary limits, manage time efficiently, and be proficient with computers, including Microsoft Excel and Word, smartphones, email, and Outlook. Continuous learning through training and independent study is expected, as is maintaining a neat, clean, and professional appearance. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Customer service attitude.
  • Good working knowledge of products and services being offered.
  • Knowledge of various municipalities' plan requirements, permit requirements and submission processes.
  • Knowledge of construction in general.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings and specification.
  • Ability to accurately list/order materials and supplies for use on the job.
  • Ability to work under time constraints, budgetary limits, and pressures.
  • Efficiently manage his/her time and schedules.
  • Computer literate to the extent necessary to fulfill this function.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Very familiar with the use of smart phones, email, and outlook.
  • Be capable of understanding client needs.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.

Responsibilities

  • Replace, modify, and/or install warm air furnaces, air conditioners, duct distribution systems, boilers, water heaters, and related piping and electrical.
  • Startup installed equipment and adjust to manufacturers and job specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, adapt, and resolve/repair all issues that arise during an installation.
  • Communicate with the consumer regarding the proper operation and owner’s maintenance of the installed equipment.
  • Answer related questions as to operation, features, and functions to the homeowner.
  • Perform required documentation for each installation with a complete startup record.
  • Have client sign necessary paperwork and collect payments as directed.
  • Communicate with Field Installation Supervisor throughout each project.
  • Continuously improve knowledge of construction in general and learn how Home Climates operates to benefit the customer.
  • Establish goals and objectives as they relate to your position, along with a plan of action to attain or exceed set goals.
  • Regularly review and monitor progress against goals and seek assistance as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with associates, superiors, vendors, and customers.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with follow up on all installations.
  • Ask and obtain customer referrals and web recommendations.
  • Build and practice superior interpersonal skills.
