About The Position

Waste Connections is seeking safety-focused Residential Rear-Load Garbage Truck Drivers to operate routes serving residential neighborhoods. The role requires both driving and riding on the back of the truck between stops while collecting household waste. Drivers perform physically demanding work, follow safety procedures, and work outdoors in varied weather conditions. This is a full-time, year-round position in Okahumpka, Florida, scheduled Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays and approximately 50–60 hours per week. Pay starts at $23 per hour, based on experience, with overtime opportunities.

Requirements

• Valid CDL.
• At least 2 years of work experience and a stable work history.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 50 or more pounds throughout the day.
• Ability and willingness to ride on the back of the truck during residential collections.
• Comfort with frequent climbing on and off the truck.
• Willingness to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other conditions.
• Ability to work long shifts of 50–60 hours per week.

Nice To Haves

• Residential rear-load or front-load driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate a residential rear-load garbage truck on assigned routes.
• Ride on the back of the truck between stops while servicing residential areas.
• Repeatedly climb on and off the truck throughout the shift.
• Lift, pull, and empty residential trash containers.
• Perform heavy physical labor throughout the route.
• Interact safely and courteously with customers in residential neighborhoods.
• Follow company safety policies, traffic laws, and route procedures.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Assist the driving partner to complete routes safely and efficiently.
