About The Position

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is dedicated to supporting a world-class educational system. The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) within MSDE provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities seeking employment, and adjudicates Social Security disability claims. This position, at GRADE 18, is located at the Workforce and Technology Center (WTC) in Baltimore, Maryland. The Supervisor will provide direct management of the planning, coordination, implementation, and administration of the WTC Residential and Enrichment Services, contributing to the agency’s mission of promoting independence and employment of individuals with disabilities. They will supervise staff to ensure quality service delivery consistent with the agency’s mission. The role involves establishing policies for consumers in the dormitory and enrichment activities, implementing and evaluating processes for safety, emergency responses, consumer rules, and staff protocols. The Supervisor will also oversee financial resources, plan and evaluate staff work, and manage WTC operations after core hours as the evening administrator. This position is not eligible for telework and is Emergency Essential. The primary shift is evening, Sunday – Thursday, 3:00pm – 11:30pm, with flexibility for other shifts as needed.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or at least 36 hours of equivalent post-baccalaureate course work from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of administrative, teaching or rehabilitation work in education, or rehabilitation programs.
  • Must consent to a State Police Investigation (fingerprinting).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing guidance and counseling and managing behaviors with individuals with significant disabilities.
  • Experience supervising staff and/or managing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct, coordinate, and monitor the operations of the WTC Residential and Enrichment Services
  • Provide leadership and technical assistance to staff to ensure that students needs are met
  • Develop, modify, implement, and evaluate program policies and procedures
  • Monitor and assess staff performance
  • Assure records of service reflect timely, accurate, and complete information associated with student progress.
  • Work collaboratively with Center staff regarding student progress, behaviors, and outcomes
  • Manage, coordinate, and monitor the WTC operation after core hours
  • Serve on agency Emergency Response Team in accordance with agency policies and continuity of operations (COOP)
  • Provide leadership and technical support to staff during emergency situations
  • Serve as liaison and communicate with Center administration during emergency situations and critical issues involving WTC Operations and student behaviors
  • Oversee and manage the financial resources for the WTC Residential and Enrichment Services department
