About The Position

Whipple Service Champions is growing its drains department and is looking for motivated individuals with a strong drains/plumbing background. This role involves diagnosing and resolving drain and sewer issues, performing various types of drain cleaning, conducting sewer camera inspections, and educating customers on findings and solutions. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining tools and equipment, adhering to safety procedures, and providing excellent customer service. The company is looking for technicians who are eager to grow, build a lifelong career, and take pride in delivering high-quality work.

Requirements

  • Progressive plumbing experience
  • Proven drain cleaning experience
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and ability to educate customers on solutions
  • High attention to detail and strong safety compliance awareness
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Able to lift and carry 60 lbs and handle physical workload

Nice To Haves

  • Boiler experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose drain and sewer issues — perform fixture tests, identify blockages, and determine cause of backups
  • Clear clogs and blockages using cable machines, augers, and other mechanical equipment
  • Operate hydro‑jetting equipment for heavy grease, scale, and root removal
  • Perform sewer camera inspections to document line condition and locate breaks, bellies, or intrusions
  • Complete minor drain repairs such as replacing small sections of pipe, fittings, or cleanouts (based on company scope)
  • Educate customers on findings, solutions, and preventative maintenance
  • Document all work performed with notes, photos, and video uploads
  • Recommend long‑term solutions such as jetting, descaling, or full sewer replacement when needed
  • Maintain tools and equipment including cables, blades, jetter nozzles, and camera gear
  • Follow all safety procedures including PPE use, confined‑space awareness, and proper chemical handling
  • Provide excellent customer service and uphold company standards on every call
  • Work independently while coordinating with dispatch, supervisors, and sales teams
  • Handle physical demands including lifting 60+ lbs and maneuvering heavy equipment
