About The Position

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings throughout Ocean County. This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping individuals live as independently as possible while participating fully in their homes and communities. We are currently hiring for evening and weekend shifts across a variety of residential programs, including group homes, supervised apartments, and supported living environments.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing required, with no more than five (5) points.
  • Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the position, including assisting individuals with mobility and completing household responsibilities as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated employment stability preferred, including at least one (1) year with a previous employer.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals residing in community-based residential programs.
  • Assist with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, medication administration, housekeeping, and laundry.
  • Encourage independence and support individuals in achieving personal goals outlined within individualized support plans.
  • Promote community inclusion by assisting individuals with recreational, social, and community-based activities.
  • Support residents with behavioral, medical, and emotional needs while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Maintain accurate electronic documentation including daily notes, medication records, and program-related reports.
  • Assist with transportation to appointments, recreational activities, and community outings when required.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Protect the rights, dignity, privacy, and personal choices of all individuals served.
