Residential Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Part-Time
About The Position
The Arc of Ocean County is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings throughout Ocean County. This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping individuals live as independently as possible while participating fully in their homes and communities. We are currently hiring for evening and weekend shifts across a variety of residential programs, including group homes, supervised apartments, and supported living environments.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing required, with no more than five (5) points.
- Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the position, including assisting individuals with mobility and completing household responsibilities as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated employment stability preferred, including at least one (1) year with a previous employer.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to individuals residing in community-based residential programs.
- Assist with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, medication administration, housekeeping, and laundry.
- Encourage independence and support individuals in achieving personal goals outlined within individualized support plans.
- Promote community inclusion by assisting individuals with recreational, social, and community-based activities.
- Support residents with behavioral, medical, and emotional needs while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation including daily notes, medication records, and program-related reports.
- Assist with transportation to appointments, recreational activities, and community outings when required.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Protect the rights, dignity, privacy, and personal choices of all individuals served.
