The Residential Counselor is responsible for providing care and treatment to adolescent clients as outlined in their treatment plans. This role functions as a member of the client's treatment team, implementing daily living activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and ensuring clients' personal hygiene. The counselor will set appropriate limits, escort clients to activities or appointments, observe clients on special precautions, and coach recreational activities. They will model professional behavior, follow guidelines for intervening with aggressive clients, and document client progress accurately and in a timely manner. The role also involves maintaining respectful relationships with clients, parents, and peers, keeping records of community service hours, ensuring client needs are met, demonstrating knowledge of safety plans, administering medications accurately, and understanding the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients. The counselor will also maintain unit cleanliness and perform other assigned duties.
