About The Position

The Residential Counselor II provides direct and indirect services to both individuals and groups of members served. This role is distinguished from the Residential Counselor by the additional years of experience and ability to proficiently perform the job functions and meet positions standards. The position is part of the Muriel Wright Recovery Center CRT, a 15-bed, voluntary crisis residential treatment center located on Santa Clara County’s Muriel Wright behavioral health campus in San Jose, California. This CRT is co-located with the Substance Use Treatment Services (SUTS) program and serves as an alternative and diversion from Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS), acute psychiatric hospitalization, and incarceration. The program serves a co-ed population, primarily justice-involved individuals with mental health status, with an average length of stay of 14-21 days. The Muriel Wright Recovery Center CRT program operates under contract with the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department.

Requirements

  • High School graduation or a G.E.D. equivalent
  • At least Three (3) year of direct service experience in a mental health setting
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified (hands-on course) on date of employment or prior to providing direct client care and maintain current certification throughout employment
  • Successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification
  • Valid and current driver’s license, and personal vehicle insurance with your name listed as a driver (if the position requires driving)
  • Motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance (if the position requires driving)
  • Willingness to use the company vehicle to drive clients to appointments and groups, etc.
