About The Position

The Residential Counselor II provides direct and indirect services to both individuals and groups of members served. This role is distinguished from a Residential Counselor by requiring additional years of experience and the ability to proficiently perform job functions and meet position standards. Telecare's mission is to deliver excellent and effective behavioral health services that engage individuals in recovering their health, hopes, and dreams, while advancing cultural diversity, humility, equity, and inclusion. The position is for the Muriel Wright Recovery Center CRT, a 15-bed, voluntary crisis residential treatment center on Santa Clara County’s Muriel Wright behavioral health campus in San Jose, California. This CRT is co-located with the Substance Use Treatment Services (SUTS) program and serves as an alternative to Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS), acute psychiatric hospitalization, and incarceration. The program serves a co-ed population, primarily justice-involved individuals with mental health status, with an average length of stay of 14-21 days. The Muriel Wright Recovery Center CRT program operates under contract with Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department.

Requirements

  • High School graduation or a G.E.D. equivalent
  • At least Three (3) year of direct service experience in a mental health setting
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified (hands-on course) on date of employment or prior to providing direct client care and maintain current certification throughout employment
  • Successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification
  • If the position requires driving, valid driver’s license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment
  • Valid and current driver’s license, and personal vehicle insurance with your name listed as a driver
  • Willingness to use the company vehicle to drive clients to appointments and groups, etc.
