About The Position

The Residential Coordinator provides essential 24-hour awake coverage and supervision within our 50-bed shelter serving single adults. The Residential Coordinator serves as a first point of contact for client needs and support and plays an important role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and positive shelter environment. This position is responsible for crisis intervention, front desk operations, facilities support, client assistance, and helping ensure the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the shelter. The Residential Coordinator also helps ensure the safety of shelter residents and Shelter House property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in the human services field, such as mental health, substance use services, homelessness services, or domestic violence services.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field.
  • 1+ year of customer service experience.
  • Experience working in programs serving individuals or families experiencing homelessness.
  • Experience working in a residential environment.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe functioning of the shelter and maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients.
  • Monitor visitor check-in, front desk calls, and general inquiries.
  • Perform regular rounds and monitor the interior and exterior of the building and surrounding grounds.
  • Maintain the daily shelter log by documenting client interactions, incidents, and other significant events.
  • Work closely with Case Managers to support and reinforce client service plans and maintain ongoing communication regarding client progress.
  • Complete thorough shift exchanges with incoming and outgoing staff to maintain consistency and continuity of services.
  • Ensure shelter documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with agency policies and best practices.
  • Assess and respond to the basic needs of shelter clients while on shift, including distributing household items, toiletries, and other supplies as needed.
  • Perform residential cleaning duties, including light touch-ups and washing shelter linens.
  • Organize and restock household supplies, toiletries, linens, towels, and donations.
  • Perform unit inspections as required.
  • Maintain the dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of all clients throughout service delivery.
  • Maintain current knowledge of and ability to follow emergency procedures, including building evacuations, health emergencies, and safety protocols.
  • Accept donations and provide support for volunteer programs and shelter events.
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with all agency policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Proficiently utilize Microsoft applications as part of day-to-day work responsibilities.
  • Serve as essential emergency personnel and report to work as scheduled during inclement weather and other emergency circumstances.
