About The Position

The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking Residential Cleaning and Direct Care Staff to join their team at the Community Transitional Living Program (CTLP) in Hartford, CT. This program serves up to 19 adults with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses, providing temporary residential support to optimize their independence, rehabilitation, and recovery. The role focuses on cleaning clients' apartments while encouraging good habits and independence, as well as providing direct care support. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to help others and make a positive impact in their community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Registered & insured vehicle available for work purposes
  • Approved criminal background and driving check
  • Experience working with psychiatric disorders or co-occurring population preferred
  • Experience in social work and cleaning highly preferred
  • Reliable, registered & insured vehicle and approved driving record check
  • All candidates must complete and pass background record screening process

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain clients’ apartments, including kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, and bedrooms
  • Model cleaning routines and encourage clients to be self-sufficient
  • Offer guidance and help clients stay organized
  • Clean common areas, stairwells, hallways, and other common spaces
  • Support clients' activities of daily living
  • Provide opportunities to optimize clients' independence, rehabilitation, and recovery
  • Develop professional and supportive relationships with clients
  • Provide informal counseling and guidance with a person-centered focus
