About The Position

The Girlstown Residential Program serves female children (ages 10-17) who are in foster care. Due to behavioral and/or emotional needs resulting from trauma, these residents are not successful in traditional foster homes. This program provides a setting for them to develop coping strategies to become productive members of the community. The Residential Case Manager is responsible for the provision and/or coordination of all client services necessary to achieve the identified permanency plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant field of human services: Social work, Psychology, Counseling, Child development, Criminal justice or similar field required.
  • Must be trained in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Commitment to the goals and philosophy of the organization including cultural competency objectives.
  • Must be highly motivated and flexible.
  • Must display sophisticated writing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Must have reliable transportation and maintain a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in working with abuse/neglect teenagers preferred.
  • Understanding of working with children who have experienced trauma.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating all case management services.
  • Monitoring and reporting on client progress.
  • Reviewing all information and meeting with the client, birth family, significant others, and referring worker to develop treatment plans.
  • Utilizing the required online database.
  • Coordinating emergency psychiatric hospitalizations.
  • Working with a consulting Psychiatrist on treatment planning and medication monitoring.
  • Completing Action Summaries and progress reports as assigned by the Girlstown Program Manager in a timely manner.
  • Completing intake interviews, intake assessments, and intake paperwork as assigned.
  • Collecting and obtaining client-specific information to assist in permanency planning.
  • Reviewing all information and meeting with the child, birth family, significant others, and assigned state worker to develop treatment plans in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining client files by filing and updating information in accordance with Licensing & Contract Compliance standards.
  • Scheduling and facilitating ongoing progress review meetings and case conferences to assist the client/family in meeting the goals and objectives of the case plan.
  • Maintaining contact with the assigned state worker and parents/guardians (if applicable).
  • Providing all case management services to the client and family.
  • Attending school-related conferences when needed.
  • Transporting clients as necessary to link services for the client and family.
  • Assuming court responsibility as assigned per contract and completing court reports and dispositions in a timely manner.
  • Informing the immediate supervisor verbally and in writing of any issues impacting clients, employees, or the administration of the agency.
  • Informing administration immediately of any client abuse or neglect.
  • Encouraging and monitoring clients’ attendance to enhance their ability to complete educational programs.
  • Recording and reporting all client incidents/behavioral problems at school and monitoring/intervening appropriately to assist clients in solving school-related issues.
  • Evaluating program strengths/deficits and making recommendations to improve service delivery.
  • Continually monitoring, interacting with, and counseling clients within the school to assess behavioral problems and deescalate problematic situations.
  • Enrolling all clients in appropriate accredited school programs within (5) days of admission, providing information as necessary and documenting same, to meet DHHS licensing & contractual standards.
  • Scheduling/assisting clients in selecting appropriate/required classes to meet Promotion and Graduation Requirements (PGR).
  • Seeking and obtaining financial assistance for clients desiring to pursue higher education/participate in extra-curricular activities to achieve education objectives.
  • Meeting with clients’ teachers to intervene or assist in completing tasks.
  • Providing on-call crisis availability to residents on an emergency phone.
  • Driving to off-site locations and at times, long distances to serve clients.
