In a developmental center, under the Department of Developmental Disabilities, for at least one module, cottage, house, multiple living area or residential building, on at least one assigned shift, this role supervises direct care personnel. The position serves as a team member for policy development and implementation of work rules, ensures compliance with Medicaid standards and labor contract rules, resolves labor disputes/matters at the first step level, and refers employees to the Employee Assistance Program Coordinator. This role is responsible for staff training and in-servicing on new policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. It monitors the implementation of Individual Habilitation Plans for persons with developmental disabilities to ensure they are followed and carried out. The position completes and signs employee performance evaluations and assures the attendance of direct care staff at team meetings to develop/revise Individual Habilitation Plans for their assigned residents. It also ensures adequate staff coverage by scheduling and assigning relief staff, part-time staff, and overtime staff, maintaining required minimum staff coverage, aligning relief staff in order of seniority, and filling out payroll, overtime, and daily employee work schedules. The role reviews written documentation regarding resident behavior response and progress as they relate to Individual Habilitation Plans, reviews requests for clothing purchases and actual purchases or assigns them to direct care staff, reviews and processes staff incident reports and determines whether additional action is needed, checks staff log books to ensure completeness, and is responsible for written documentation regarding assigned residents and checks staff's time and attendance. The position participates in Individual Habilitation Program/Plans meetings and attends unit managers' meetings; reviews restraint records to assure proper procedures have been followed; completes census reports; investigates and reports all major incidents; ensures staff compliance with treatment habilitation plans; relieves supervisors of other units upon request; and maintains supplies and acquisitions of necessary equipment.
