Performs inspections of all construction to insure project is built in accordance with approved design documents and is in compliance with all applicable local and state codes. This position performs primarily residential building, mechanical, plumbing and Onsite Waste Water Treatment (OWTS) inspections on a daily basis to ensure compliance with adopted codes. The role involves establishing, maintaining, and processing all project inspection records, documents, and forms. It requires computer entry and written documentation skills, providing clear and concise verbal or written directives, and verifying that all required permits, licenses, and documents have been obtained. Prompt and courteous responses to inquiries from the public, contractors, and co-workers are essential. The inspector drives a county vehicle for daily inspections, maintains the vehicle and equipment, and reports any defects to the appropriate supervisor. Field verification of project documents for code compliance and communication of findings are also key responsibilities. The employee regularly attends staff meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
