About The Position

The Residential and Commercial Painter completes painting work according to production standards established by the Painting Contractors of America (PCA) and Fresh Coat. The painter works as part of a team, follows the operations manager’s instructions, protects and prepares surfaces, applies coatings to achieve a uniform finish, communicates with clients, and maintains an orderly and clean worksite. The role also requires punctuality, a professional appearance, continued learning, and positive relationships with clients and prospective clients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain company standards and support fellow painters and the operations manager as a team player.
• Arrive at the job site at the start time and report to the operations manager for job-specific goals and instructions.
• Respect customer boundaries and space.
• Help set up an organized area for equipment, tools, and products.
• Monitor progress toward the daily production goal and ensure it is met or exceeded.
• Pre-plan for the next day.
• Protect surfaces not being painted with plastic, drop cloths, and tape.
• Prepare surfaces by sanding, scraping, and priming as appropriate to ensure proper adhesion.
• Apply coatings to achieve a smooth, opaque, uniform finish, color, appearance, and coverage.
• Take steps to avoid cloudiness, spotting, holidays, laps, brush marks, runs, sags, ropiness, and other surface imperfections.
• Organize the worksite to minimize disruption to the client’s home.
• Listen to and promptly and thoroughly address client concerns.
• Remove empty cans, rags, rubbish, and other discarded paint materials from the site at the end of each workday.
• Upon job completion, clean glass and paint-spattered surfaces, removing paint by washing and scraping without damaging adjacent finished surfaces.
• Maintain a professional appearance, including clean, neat hair and clean painter whites with no more than 10 percent of the fabric covered in paint.
• Be on time for all jobs.
• Continue to learn and grow as a painter.
• Establish and maintain goodwill with clients and prospective clients.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities requested by Fresh Coat leaders.
