About The Position

Roots to Recovery: A Holistic Approach to Substance Use Treatment (R2R) is an intermediate, 24/7 residential treatment for men in need of a structured environment to continue building upon their recovery skills. R2R is located in Willimantic. There are 14 beds and it is a 90 day maximum intermediate (3.5) residential substance abuse treatment program. Clients are referred from intensive treatment programs, emergency room staff and/or detox programs. Clients with co-occurring disorders and on Methadone maintenance are accepted. Clients cannot work during their stay but can start looking for work 3 weeks prior to program completion. As a Residential Aide, you will maintain the physical environment and program standards set by funders, accreditors, and agency policies. You will monitor the self-administration of client medications, utilize appropriate communication methods to collaborate with co-workers and clients, and teach/assist residents in developmentally appropriate activities of daily living. You will also assist/manage administrative functions, prepare and facilitate educational and skill-building groups, and coordinate care with providers and families. Additionally, you will assist residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs, maintain documentation, and participate in staff meetings, supervision, and trainings. Additional duties may be required.

Requirements

  • High diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required with good driving record.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification required OR must obtain within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience working with a relevant population preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains physical environment and program standards set by funders, accreditors, and agency policies.
  • Monitor self-administration of client medications in accordance with the agency medication policies and procedure as program may require.
  • Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to effectively collaborate with co-workers and clients.
  • Teaches and assists all residents in areas of developmentally appropriate activities of daily living.
  • Assists/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor.
  • Prepares and facilitates educational and skill building groups and one to one intervention as directed by the treatment plan.
  • Collaborates and coordinate care with providers and families as needed.
  • Assists residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Additional duties as required.
