About The Position

CMHA-CEI is seeking a Resident Technician for Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) to assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in a residential or supported independent living setting. The role focuses on implementing skill acquisition, understanding stages of change and substance use disorders, and promoting resident independence. The technician will act as a resource, provide transportation, and assist residents with daily living skills, symptom management, and community participation. This position requires attending mandatory staff meetings and in-service training.

Requirements

  • Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must receive and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training (All training is paid and completed through CMHA-CEI).
  • Must be able to understand written instructions.
  • Ability to accurately and effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
  • Must be able to read and follow medication charts.
  • Candidate will provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Must be physically able to do lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers according to approved agency policies/procedures.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
  • Access to reliable transportation for job related use.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Implement skill acquisition and understand stages of change and substance use disorders.
  • Assist individuals to be as independent as possible.
  • Act as a resource and referral for residents to meet their needs.
  • Provide transportation with agency vehicle or personal vehicle to and from activities, appointments, and community inclusionary activities.
  • Support mental illness symptoms management.
  • Train and assist residents in daily living skills such as medication management, personal care, interpersonal communication skills, cleaning, meal preparation, and laundry.
  • Provide de-escalation skills.
  • Maintain required documentation.
  • Assist residents in participation in community activities.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
