About The Position

CMHA-CEI is seeking a Resident Technician for Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) - MAC. This role involves assisting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in a residential or supported independent living setting. The technician will support skill acquisition, understand stages of change and substance use disorders, and help residents achieve independence. Responsibilities include acting as a resource, providing transportation, supporting symptom management, training in daily living skills (medication management, personal care, communication, cleaning, meal prep, laundry), de-escalation, documentation, and facilitating community participation. The position also requires attending mandatory staff meetings and in-service training.

Requirements

  • Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must receive and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training (All training is paid and completed through CMHA-CEI)
  • Must be able to understand written instructions
  • Ability to accurately and effectively communicate both in writing and verbally is required
  • Must be able to read and follow medication charts
  • Candidate will provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Must be physically able to do lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers according to approved agency policies/procedures
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license
  • Access to reliable transportation for job related use is required
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam annually

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of skill acquisition
  • Understand the stages of change and substance use disorders as it relates to each individual’s plan of service
  • Assisting individuals to be as independent as possible
  • Acts as a resource and referral for residents to meet their needs
  • Provides transportation with agency vehicle or personal vehicle, when needed, to and from day and evening activities, appointments, social, religious and recreational activities, and community inclusionary activities as assigned
  • Support mental illness symptoms management
  • Training and assisting residents in daily living skills such as medication management; personal care; interpersonal communication skills; cleaning; meal preparation and laundry
  • De-escalations skills
  • Maintaining required documentation
  • Assisting residents in participation in community activities
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and in-service training sessions
