About The Position

This posting is for multiple locations within the organization (Carolinas Medical Center, Cabarrus, Mercy and Floyd). Candidates may be considered for opportunities across various sites. The Resident Spiritual Care position performs daily spiritual care visitation, ensuring appropriate response and follow-up on all referrals from assigned clinical nursing areas. The role provides Spiritual Care and support to patients, families, and teammates of all cultural and spiritual backgrounds, without proselytizing. It also supports faith group leaders visiting their members who are patients, and facilitates Spiritual Care Groups in collaboration with the Health Care Team. The position requires maintaining spiritual care statistics of daily activities and completing charting for spiritual care interactions. The resident must maintain a responsible relationship with their endorsing denomination and engage in necessary activities for endorsement maintenance. Initiative is required to maintain active and regular supervisory meetings with the CPE Supervisor and to regularly report professional activities. The role involves working in groups and team meetings as part of team delivery of care on clinical nursing areas and remaining in compliance with the Standards and guidelines set forth in the Clinical Pastoral Education Student Handbook. Attendance at regular peer group meetings and educational presentations is also required.

Ability to be mobile (walking, standing, sitting, etc.)
Talking and hearing essential to communicate with patients, families, and teammates.
Must be able to read and speak English in simple, understandable terms.
Must be able to be mobile and free of any physical limitation which would preclude fulfillment of spiritual care duties.
Ability to engage in a good working relationship with all departments.

Nice To Haves

Master's of Divinity or equivalency based on the Common Qualification and Competencies for Professional Chaplains preferred.
One previous unit of Clinical Pastoral Education by an accredited ACPE center preferred.

Responsibilities
