About The Position

This position reports to the Service Center Manager-AUPI West Region. ABB’s Automation business area enables customers to operate some of the world’s largest and most complex industrial infrastructures, helping them outrun – leaner and cleaner. We offer a broad range of automation, electrification and digital solutions for process, hybrid and maritime industries, including industry-specific integrated control and software as well as measurement and analytics solutions and services. As a Resident Service Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support and service to our customers. You will perform installations, maintenance, and repairs on equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. The work model for the role is: onsite at customer site.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related work/military experience required. Or HS diploma/GED and 7+ years of related work/military experience required.
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters.
  • Ability to identify voltage systems that are above the level 240 VAC/870 VDC.
  • Mechanical/Electrical aptitude including a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and utilize for troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment.
  • This role will be a resident position working out of the customer location, however needs to be able to travel up to 15% for required training and assisting other sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the pulp & paper industry is a nice to have.

Responsibilities

  • Execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines for our Quality Control Systems (QCS).
  • Deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectation.
  • Ensure customer retention by effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.
  • Work with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points.
  • Perform field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform.
  • Prepare material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
