Post Grad Year 1

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center
Onsite

About The Position

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is seeking a Resident Physician for its Post Grad Year 1 program. Residency is a crucial phase of medical education following medical school, focused on completing the educational requirements for medical specialty board certification. Resident physicians are integral to patient care, performing a wide range of clinical activities under the supervision of attending physicians. This role involves initial and ongoing patient assessment, developing treatment plans, participating in rounds and seminars, timely medical record completion, and performing procedures. The program emphasizes developing an understanding of ethical, socioeconomic, and medical-legal issues, cost containment, and participation in educational activities, including teaching and supervising junior residents and students. Resident physicians are also expected to participate in institutional committees and adhere to all institutional policies and procedures. The program provides graded responsibilities, allowing residents to progress from direct supervision to more indirect supervision as their competence, clinical experience, judgment, knowledge, and technical skills are evaluated and confirmed. The ultimate goal is to ensure safe and effective patient care, with regular performance evaluations and feedback provided to residents. Supervision is provided by licensed independent practitioners, with the scope of resident responsibilities not exceeding that of the supervising physician. Attending physicians are available 24/7 for inpatient settings, and emergency room supervision is provided by full-time attending physicians. The program participates in the hospital-wide quality assurance system, with performance evaluations coordinated by Residency Program Directors.
