Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or be a graduate of an ACPE-accredited advanced pharmacy degree program in the United States.
  • All residents must be licensed as a Pharmacist in the State of New Mexico within 90 days of beginning their program.
  • Residents are required to obtain Intern License to cover the time from beginning their residency until they can be fully licensed as a Pharmacist.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages drug therapy protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug related problems.
  • Provides drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients, and pharmacy students.
  • Documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.
  • Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry.
  • Checks for accuracy after filling by technicians.
  • Maintains adequate knowledge of pharmacy automated systems and computer software.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
