About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking a reliable, friendly, and professional Resident Monitor to ensure the safety and welcoming atmosphere of their Short-Term Family Housing program. As essential staff, the Resident Monitor will be responsible for building security, greeting residents and visitors, and reporting any concerns to the appropriate team members. This position is located at The Aya in Southwest DC and is part of a mission-driven team dedicated to making a difference in the lives of families and individuals needing healthcare, housing, and community support services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write detailed shift and incident reports.
  • Ability to de-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling the front area during inclement weather.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as designated by their supervisor, including evenings and weekends and at various Community of Hope sites.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors community areas within the building, including the lobby, phone room, and exterior areas, to prevent loitering and conducts rounds throughout the building.
  • Monitors security cameras for activity in and around the building and addresses issues as needed.
  • Ensures visitors, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and residents are signed in and out, documenting their arrival and departure in the shift log.
  • Checks photo ID of all visitors.
  • Provides traffic control to limit crowding in the lobby.
  • Completes curfew checks each night by knocking on unit doors and documenting occupants, inquiring about the whereabouts of children if they are not present.
  • Emails and/or calls the Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits (Police, CFSA, Social Services, probation and parole, case workers, etc.).
  • Fills out incident reports to document unusual or difficult incidents involving residents, facility issues, fire, rescue, or other emergencies, and emails them immediately to the Program Director or On-Call Supervisor.
  • Offers additional assistance to residents as needed or requested, in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, especially during emergencies.
  • Provides access to the building by screening individuals who ring the call button.
  • Processes visitors by checking their ID, having them sign in, and contacting the appropriate COH staff for escort.
  • Monitors Closed Circuit TV security footage and reports/responds immediately to suspected security violations by notifying SPO and Program Director and/or calling emergency services.
