About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing, accepting, and processing residents staying in shelter overnight. The Resident Monitor/Security Guard monitors the behavior and activity of residents participating in a recovery/housing program on an assigned shift, ensuring safety, security, and compliance with house rules. They also guard the security and safety of Salvation Army facilities and buildings to ensure compliance with housing rules and policies and to protect the safety of staff and clients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year experience working with public performing security or social service work preferred OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with house rules.
  • Completes and files incident logs.
  • Administers drug and alcohol testing at program staff request.
  • Provides security for the building and grounds being aware of activities happening in building dormitories.
  • Maintains awareness of activities occurring outside of the building.
  • Inspects baggage for contraband or inappropriate items which jeopardize the security and safety of clients and staff; may operate a metal detector.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all clients including their location, conversation, and records.
  • Responds to emergencies by dialing 911.
