About The Position

Essential Functions: Inspection of complex/major sewer and facility projects under District contract. Meeting with applicable stakeholders throughout the construction of a project. Preparation of quantities and calculations to be used in monthly pay applications. Serving as a point of contact for other District inspection personnel. Additional Responsibilities: Maintains records and prepares reports. Performs related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • 30 college credit hours.
  • Five years experience in the construction and inspection of sewers.
  • Completion of the American Public Works Association's (APWA) Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector II Certification.
  • Valid driver's license issued by state in which employee resides.
  • Must be able to provide transportation for field work.
  • Must have a current Meets Expectations performance review.

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, practices and techniques involved in sewer construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard engineering field tests.
  • Skill in interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Skill in forming and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors, consulting engineers, public officials, the general public and others.
  • Skill in expressing oneself clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.
  • Skill in maintaining records and preparing reports.
  • Ability to assign and oversee the work of construction inspectors.
  • Familiarity with use of personal computer and department hardware and software.
