About The Position

GFT is seeking a Resident Engineer with long-span bridge experience, particularly with cable-stay structures, to join its Construction Services Group in New Jersey. The position leads a critical construction effort on a large-scale bridge project for a New Jersey transportation agency. The Resident Engineer oversees delivery of complex infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. Relocation costs and a sign-on bonus are available for qualified candidates.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering.
• Prior experience as a Resident Engineer on cable-stay or other long-span bridges.
• A minimum of 15–20 years of experience in construction inspection procedures and management.
• OSHA 30, Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), ACI, and other relevant structural, bridge, and material certifications.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to the project site.

Nice To Haves

• NICET, AMPP, TCC, and NJSAT certifications.
• Experience with NJTA projects, inspection procedures, specifications, and programs.
• New Jersey PE License, or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management for construction projects.
• Maintain comprehensive construction project records.
• Oversee interactions with clients and inspection staff concerning contract change orders, item payments, and material testing.
• Conduct project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
• Develop monthly progress reports and monthly payments.
