About The Position

Volt is hiring a Test Engineer specializing in structures in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The role follows work-order instructions to implement test requirements and supports product-evaluation test strategies and test execution. The engineer maintains, calibrates, and applies instrumentation; fabricates customized transducers and test fixtures; modifies parts to install instrumentation; and sets up servo-hydraulic and electrodynamic test systems. The position also involves operating data-acquisition systems and test equipment, collecting and reducing data for validation testing and stakeholder delivery, and writing engineering reports that document the test environment for knowledge capture. Strict adherence to 5S and other continuous-improvement methods is required. This is a full-time, long-term contract opportunity.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Experience conducting structural tests, such as bolt-strength or stress-gauge testing.
• Experience analyzing test data.
• Experience working in a test cell.
• Instrumentation calibration experience.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical test systems.

Responsibilities

• Follow work-order instructions to implement test requirements.
• Maintain, calibrate, and apply instrumentation.
• Fabricate customized transducers and test fixtures.
• Modify parts to install instrumentation.
• Set up servo-hydraulic and electrodynamic test systems.
• Reduce component data into formats usable for validation testing.
• Operate data-acquisition systems to collect data from sensors in support of testing.
• Operate test equipment to replicate or measure desired responses in the test environment.
• Collect test data for delivery to stakeholders.
• Write engineering reports documenting the test environment for knowledge capture.
• Support implementation of product-evaluation test strategies and execution of testing.
• Adhere strictly to the 5S concept and other continuous-improvement methods.
