About The Position

Accenture Infrastructure & Capital Projects is seeking a Resident Engineer (Highway) to make an impact on how the world gets built. This role involves developing and delivering infrastructure projects such as factories, grids, transit systems, and public infrastructure, with a focus on smarter, safer, and more sustainable methods. The team blends real-world experience with digital innovation and AI to transform capital project planning, management, and execution. The work location is onsite with clients and partners, with some in-person time for collaboration, learning, and relationship building. Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
  • Minimum 1 construction highway project for or on Caltrans.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience conducting roadway and highway construction inspection in major public works projects.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with physical characteristics and properties of various roadway and bridge construction materials including concrete and steel.

  • Ability to direct the efforts of subordinate inspectors.
  • Expertise in toll road projects including tolling systems (e.g., overhead gantries, cameras, in-pavement vehicle detection loops, etc.).
  • Experience working with Caltrans District 4 Highway.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inspection and quality assurance on highway and roadway construction projects.
  • Determine if completed work follows plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate work with the contractor and various public utilities agencies.
  • Maintain records and reports related to the project.
  • Coordinate directly with the general contractor and negotiate change orders.
  • Assist in inspections to assure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and special provisions on all phases of structural construction such as bridges, foundations, walls, falsework, shoring, and drainage structures.
  • Make or support grade, alignment, quantity, falsework, and shoring calculations.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other documents or reports required for the project.
  • Coordinate the sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications.
  • Monitor and track contractor progress, prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • Coordinate with the project team, as well as the Construction Staking and Material Testing CMCs.
