About The Position

The Resident Engagement Director provides active and passive, group and individual resident engagement, which enhance mental, physical, spiritual, cultural and social needs of the residents and allows residents to continue an active role in society. He/she responsible for organizing, coordinating, and participating in enrichment activities for the entire resident population. He/she shares responsibilities to hire, evaluate, coordinate, monitor performance, schedule and supervise staff in accordance with LCB Senior Living policy.

Requirements

  • Computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet, database managers presentation software and Calendar/Newsletter software.
  • The ability to develop, organize and implement a well-rounded activities program that enhances the lives of our residents.
  • The ability to manage and direct activities of staff is required.
  • Should have knowledge of therapeutic recreational techniques.
  • Must be able to interact positively with outside organizations.
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • The ability to handle emergency situations calmly and completely.
  • The ability to drive the community vehicle.
  • A minimum of one-year prior experience in the recreational therapy field required.
  • A valid drivers license in the state where you are employed.
  • No more than two moving violations in a three-year period as determined by our insurance broker.
  • New Hampshire requires associate to be a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Therapist or have the ability to obtain such certificate within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Gerontology experience preferred.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreations Specialist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and core values of the Residence and LCB Senior Living to residents, visitors, co-workers and the surrounding community.
  • As a department head you are expected to have an active role in growing community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members and professionals.
  • Assume the Administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the overall management of the Activities Program.
  • Ongoing evaluation and assessment of the Activities Program to define needs and opportunities for growth.
  • Maintains departmental budgets.
  • Records and maintains a record of resident activities and attendance.
  • Ensures open and timely communication with associates, residents, families and LCB Senior Living regarding the Activities Program.
  • Coordinate and conduct resident/family functions to enhance overall program.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing Director on community outreach plan to ensure strong partnerships with industry partners for the purposes of identifying and partnering with local service resources.
  • Consult with residents and families as needed to best meet individuals needs. Completes resident life stories.
  • Prepares and posts monthly/weekly/daily calendar.
  • Organizes, maintains and expands a volunteer program.
  • Develops residence newsletter.
  • Arranges transportation and escorts for access to the community and outside activities. Drives the community van as needed.
  • Coordinates repair or preventative maintenance for community vehicle(s).
  • Ensure Activities Program associates are given the necessary resources to carry out their duties in an efficient economic manner.
  • Establish effective relationships with community RCAs and coordinate team activities to ensure quality care.
  • Interviews and trains activities personnel.
  • Ensure completion of timely associate reviews.
  • Ensure that counselling efforts, retraining and corrective action is administered fairly and in accordance with community and LCB Senior Living policies.
  • Ensure completion and review of incident/accident reports and implement changes through proper channels (i.e. Safety Committee, etc.) to minimize future issues. Ensure proper communication with LCB Senior Living and state compliance reporting.
  • Ensuring that all staffing schedules (if applicable) for the Activity Program, including backup coverage for staff is met at all times.
  • Performs and attends in-services as required.
  • Ensure that all residents are receiving leisure services as defined by New Hampshire State guidelines.
  • Participation in the Manager-on-Duty Program.
  • Other duties as requested.
