About The Position

Volunteers of America Western Washington (VOAWW) is a non-profit organization with over 125 years of service, driven by Christian roots to uplift the community. The Resident Community Resource Advocate (CRA) plays a crucial role in coordinating and delivering resident enrichment and resource navigation services for the Opportunity Council's TenantConnect program. This position is based at the VOA Food Bank Distribution Center in Everett, WA, and serves residents in select affordable housing communities across Snohomish County. The CRA will provide on-site resource navigation, conduct outreach, organize resident engagement activities, and connect residents with vital community resources to foster housing stability, well-being, and self-sufficiency. Collaboration with property management, community partners, and internal teams is key to identifying resident needs, improving resource access, coordinating events, and supporting long-term stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, behavioral health, education, public health, or a related field, or equivalent education and relevant professional experience.
  • Experience providing direct support, outreach, or resource navigation to individuals and families accessing community-based, public benefit, housing, healthcare, or social service systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals experiencing complex barriers, including housing instability, food insecurity, disabilities, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel regularly within Snohomish County.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings or occasional weekends based on program needs and outreach activities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, community-based environment with changing priorities.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Strong commitment to supporting the community.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication and coordination with supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with property management staff, community partners, and service providers.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making within program guidelines and supervisory direction.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused when working with individuals in crisis or high-stress situations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to non-judgmental engagement care.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build rapport, explain complex information clearly, maintain professional boundaries, and collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems, processes, and program requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site resource navigation services at assigned affordable housing communities for a minimum of 2-3 hours per month per property.
  • Offer resource and referral assistance to residents via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Assist residents in accessing public benefits, housing resources, healthcare, employment services, food assistance, and other community-based supports, including Coordinated Entry when appropriate.
  • Provide information and referrals for seasonal and program-specific resources such as eviction prevention, tax preparation assistance, utility assistance, school supply programs, and holiday assistance.
  • Coordinate and support resident-focused events, resource fairs, workshops, and community engagement activities in collaboration with property management staff and community partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with property staff, service providers, and community organizations to enhance resident access to resources.
  • Coordinate the distribution of informational materials, resource flyers, and community updates to residents and leasing staff.
  • Maintain familiarity with the TenantConnect website, promote its use, and review resources for contracted properties bi-monthly.
  • Collaborate with the TenantConnect Services Coordinator and VOAWW Connect Data Systems Analyst to update resources on the TenantConnect website and Kintone database.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of resident contacts, referrals, outreach activities, events, and services provided.
  • Track on-site service activities, resource fairs, partner engagement, and informational materials distributed at assigned properties.
  • Compile and submit required monthly reports and activity data to Opportunity Council and VOAWW.
  • Participate in team meetings, training activities, and program evaluation efforts.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate property operating hours, resident needs, and occasional evening or weekend events.
