We are currently looking to fill a Resource and Information advocate role at our Midway office. This role involves greeting survivors seeking assistance at the Centralized Domestic Violence Courthouse of Cook County and effectively assessing their immediate needs. The advocate will provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and brief assistance in the preparation of Orders of Protection, Stalking No-Contact Orders, and Civil No Contact Orders. Additionally, the role includes providing guidance, information, and referrals, which may involve a brief overview of available court options, an explanation of possible interventions, answering questions, and referring clients to resources both within and outside of the courthouse. The advocate will develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of MFS programs and community-based resources, potentially facilitating linkages with services. This position requires attending mandatory group supervision and program/agency meetings, and participating in a team-oriented approach by collaborating with departmental staff and other programs. Responsibilities also include completing paperwork and entering data in a timely manner, working within contract, grant, and program expectations, and remaining cognizant of current developments in the field of domestic violence by attending appropriate workshops and conferences. The role involves establishing and maintaining contact with local agencies and organizations, representing Metropolitan Family Services professionally in the community, and providing services in accordance with the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals’ code of ethics. Other duties as assigned.
