About The Position

This Resident Chaplain position at Atrium Health Navicent is a full-time role within the Enterprise Corporate - Chaplain department. The resident will be responsible for performing daily spiritual care visitation, ensuring appropriate response and follow-up on referrals from clinical nursing areas, and providing spiritual care and support to patients, families, and teammates of all cultural and spiritual backgrounds without proselytizing. The role also involves supporting faith group leaders, facilitating Spiritual Care Groups, maintaining statistics and charting of spiritual care activities, and maintaining a responsible relationship with their endorsing denomination. The resident will engage in regular supervisory meetings with their CPE Supervisor and report professional activities. They will work in groups and team meetings as part of the team delivery of care on clinical nursing areas and must remain in compliance with the Clinical Pastoral Education Student Handbook and attend required peer group meetings and educational presentations.

  • Service ability to be mobile (walking, standing, sitting, etc.)
  • Talking and hearing essential to communicate with patients, families, and teammates.
  • Must be able to read and speak English in simple, understandable terms.
  • Must be able to be mobile and free of any physical limitation which would preclude fulfillment of spiritual care duties.
  • Ability to engage in a good working relationship with all departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's of Divinity or equivalency based on the Common Qualification and Competencies for Professional Chaplains preferred.
  • One previous unit of Clinical Pastoral Education by an accredited ACPE center preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily spiritual care visitation.
  • Ensures appropriate response and follow-up on all referrals from the clinical nursing areas to which assigned.
  • Provides Spiritual Care and support to patients, families, and teammates of all cultural and spiritual backgrounds, does not proselytize.
  • Supports faith group leaders visiting their members who are patients.
  • Facilitates Spiritual Care Groups in collaboration with Health Care Team.
  • Maintains spiritual care statistics of daily Spiritual Care activities and completes charting for spiritual care interactions.
  • Maintains responsible relationship with his/her endorsing denomination, and engages in those activities necessary to the maintenance of that endorsement.
  • Takes initiative to maintain active and regular supervisory meetings with CPE Supervisor, and regularly reports professional activities at same meetings.
  • Works in groups and team meetings where appropriate as part of team delivery of care on clinical nursing areas.
  • Remains in compliance with the Standards and guidelines set forth in the Clinical Pastoral Education Student Handbook.
  • Attends regular peer group meetings, educational presentations, etc as required by the CPE Faculty.
