About The Position

Cornerstone, affiliated with Methodist Retirement Communities and located in Texarkana, Texas, is a leader in continuing care retirement living offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, and home health. At MRC, our goal is to maximize the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual potential of our residents. MRC Cornerstone is seeking Resident Care Assistants to work in our Memory Support Unit from 10:00pm-6am. Resident Care Assistants administer the care of residents under the supervision of licensed staff and assist professional nursing staff by performing routine tasks in the care of residents, helping them adapt to changes that may occur due to illness and normal processes of aging. They use one-on-one and group relationships to facilitate participation in activities, support interests, develop and sustain capacities and adaptive skills of residents. They also lead and coordinate various types of activities and programs for the residents and assist in the development and implementation of care plans.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent is desired.
  • Two years of resident care experience, preferably as a hospital or long-term care nursing assistant.
  • Ability to learn computer skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of basic patient care procedures.
  • Models a service attitude toward others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, families and coworkers.
