About The Position

Aspire Rural Health System is hiring a Resident Care Aide for its Resident Care department at The Heartlands in Marlette, Michigan. This casual, night-shift role provides support and care to residents, including older adults with dementia. The aide helps maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for residents and their families, while respecting residents’ comfort, privacy, and confidentiality.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current CPR and First Aid certificate.
• Genuine desire to assist older adults with dementia.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with older adults is desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident care, monitor and assess residents’ medical conditions, and report changes to the resident care manager.
• Build and maintain open relationships with residents through regular interaction, encouragement, and support.
• Serve meals, snacks, and beverages, and assist residents with eating when needed.
• Perform housekeeping duties within the community.
• Assist residents with organized activities.
• Help maintain resident records through regular documentation.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to residents’ comfort and privacy and maintain the confidentiality of residents.
• Maintain knowledge of the needs of older adults with dementia, appropriate lifting and transferring techniques, infection control, disease prevention, and emergency preparedness.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for residents and their families.
