Requirements

• Minimum of six months of experience in a similar role
• Basic or Standard First Aid
• Certification in Personal Support Worker or Personal Care Worker, or a 16 hour course that covers the provision of personal care and that is recognized by the department (willingness to complete this course within 3 months of start date if not already possessed)
• Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
• Successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check
• Excellent command of the verbal and written English language skills
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit

Responsibilities

• Answer all resident call bells and door alarms promptly and provide courteous service
• Complete all aspects of resident care as outlined in the plan of care and care assignments
• Transport residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office and dining room as required
• Complete laundry and housekeeping duties as outlined by assignments
• Deal tactfully and courteously with residents, residents' families and report any concerns / complaints to the team leader
• Practice safe food handling techniques throughout all aspects of food preparation and service
• Perform other duties as assigned
