About The Position

The Resident Assistant provides personal care and designated health-related services to enhance or maintain residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing at York Gardens, a community with 76 Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Enhanced Care apartments. The schedule is overnight: Week 1, Friday from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.; Week 2, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Requirements

• Less than one year of experience is listed under required qualifications.
• Ability to use computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines.
• If under 18, must be on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry; the site must be able to accommodate restrictions on independently passing medications or operating a mechanical lift.

Nice To Haves

• One to three years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care, including bathing and showering, foot and fingernail care, shaving, dressing, hearing aids and glasses, hair care, feeding, toileting, escorts, transfers, and use of mechanical lifts.
• Provide health-related services and treatments under the direction of the Registered Nurse and in accordance with individualized care plans, including blood glucose monitoring.
• Administer or assist with medications under the direction of the Registered Nurse, including insulin injections.
• Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Perform laundry service according to schedule and follow the cleaning schedule for the shift.
• Deliver meal trays and assist with meal service in the dining room.
• Assist with preparing for or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned or requested.
• Observe residents and report their status to appropriate staff.
• Notify appropriate staff of changes in residents’ physical or emotional conditions, including changes in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, or weight changes.
• Serve as a mandated reporter and report concerns about potential mistreatment.
• Offer pertinent observations and input.
• Respond appropriately to resident and building emergencies.
